About StoryBriefs

Most business videos fail before the camera rolls. The brief is vague, the questions are generic and the edit ends up as a list of features. StoryBriefs fixes the brief.

Each brief takes one kind of video, sometimes for one industry, and lays out the story structure, a script template, interview questions, a shot list and realistic costs. They're free to use.

Where it comes from

StoryBriefs is based on the book Storification by Jim Lounsbury, a five-step framework for brand stories that people remember and pass on.

The five steps

  1. Origin: connect the moment your organisation began to your audience's reality today.
  2. Worldview: speak to what your audience believes, not just who they are.
  3. Invitation: replace calls to action with calls to identity.
  4. Participation: leave room for your audience to add to the story.
  5. Amplification: give the story ways to travel across channels.
